Christopher J. Hartwell, PHR

Chris is a previous graduate of the George Washington University (B.A. Communication) and Utah State University (M.S. Human Resources). In addition to his academic background, Chris has eight years of professional work experience in the field of human resources, including recruiting, selection, performance management, compensation/benefits administration, and employee training/development. That professional experience has come through employment with such varied organizations as the United States Senate, Kelly Services, and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). He has been certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) through the HR Certification Institute since 2009.
Research
Research interests include employee selection, performance management, communication and feedback, leadership, and social media in the workplace.

Jared C. Law-Penrose
1st Year Student
Jared graduated from Messiah College in Grantham, PA with a bachelor’s degree in Communication in 2008. As an undergraduate he was selected as a David L. Boren scholar and spent a year enrolled in Nizhniy Novogord State University, Russia conducting cross-cultural media exportation. He presented his findings at the 2007 International Association of Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) conference in Paris. From 2008-2012 he worked for the Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) and the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) in strategic planning and congressional affairs.
Jared is married and has a two year old son. He and his wife are expecting their second child in August of 2013. His personal interests include scuba diving, water skiing, and board games.
Research
Research interests include non-profit human resource management, restorative justice within organizations, and intersection of leadership and trust.
Matthew B. Perrigino
1st Year Student
"The faculty in the Krannert OBHR program are all incredibly nice, genuine, and knowledgeable individuals who are always willing to answer questions and offer guidance. Although the coursework can be challenging, the combined support of the faculty and other students helps foster learning. This camaraderie creates a pleasant atmosphere where knowledge can easily be built, developed, and shared."
Matt was born and raised in Westchester, NY, and graduated with a BBA degree from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University, where he double concentrated in operations management and business law and minored in religion. Prior to joining Krannert, he worked in corporate finance at IBM.
Matt’s parents are Brian and Denise. He has a sister named Monica who is pursuing a degree at NYU Law. His hobbies include spending time with family and friends, running, playing golf, and yoga.

Research interests include work-family conflict, organizational behavior in hospitals, and organizational dress.
Xinyan (Catherine) Zhao
1st Year Student

Catherine has an M.A. in Communication from Purdue University and a B.A. in English Language and Literature from Beijing Foreign Studies University.
