The program is designed for students with strong quantitative backgrounds, including undergraduate courses in calculus and statistics. Students with an undergraduate degree in the Sciences, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (the "STEM" disciplines) are preferred, although students from other disciplines will be considered. Prior course work in Economics is not expected. Students are expected to complete an application, provide undergraduate transcripts (minimum expected GPA 3.0), and Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) scores. Students with strong quantitative backgrounds, including current and former Purdue University undergraduate STEM majors, may request a waiver of the GRE/GMAT requirement. International students must provide evidence of English Proficiency. New classes are enrolled each August. Applicants are evaluated by a committee consisting of Economics faculty members and administrators. Applications should be submitted by June 10 to be assured consideration for admission to the fall (August) class. Applicants from students considering the combined Bs/MS degree program should occur prior to their completion of courses that can be counted toward the MS degree.
