Professor Moskowitz is the Lewis B. Cullman Distinguished Professor of Manufacturing Management and former director of the Dauch Center for the Management of Manufacturing Enterprises. His main teaching interests are management science and quantitative methods. His current research interests are in manufacturing and technology management, quality improvement, judgment and decision making, and expert systems applied to these areas. He has authored or coauthored more than 120 reference journal articles and four textbooks. Professor Moskowitz has obtained various grants from public and private organizations, such as the National Science Foundation, the Office of Water Resources Technology, General Electric Foundation, IBM, and AT&T. He is currently a consultant to the Fulbright Commission and a past member of the DRMS Advisory Panel and Mathematics Advisory Panel on Calculus of the National Science Foundation. He has served as a consultant in project management, quality management, new product development, and other areas for a number of organizations including Bechtel, Sola Basic Industries, Clark Equipment, Office of Naval Research, NSF, Decision Research, Institute for Research on Public Policy (Canada), General Motors Research Laboratories, Abbott Laboratories, Bell Laboratories, AT&T, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Resorts Condominium International, Inland Steel, Eli Lilly, Dana Corporation, Owens Brockway, Thomson Consumer Electronics, Case, and several law firms on product liability litigation. He has been or is an associate editor of Operations Research, Decision Sciences, Journal of Interdisciplinary Modeling and Simulation, Journal of Behavioral Decision Making, and Management Science. He is a fellow of the Decision Sciences Institute and also served as vice-president, secretary, and member of the Executive Board of this organization. He also holds or has held various positions with TIMS and ORSA, and is a member of the American Society for Quality Control Standards Council. He has been at Purdue since 1970 and has had visiting appointments at the University of Mannheim (West Germany), the University of British Columbia, the London Business School, Middle Eastern Technical University, Helsinki School of Economics and Management, Technological University of Costa Rica, Monterrey Institute of Technology (ITESM), and the Wharton School. He was awarded a Fulbright Grant for 1985-86 under the Western European Regional Research Scholar Program to conduct research with colleagues in England and Finland. He is a past director of graduate professional management programs and executive education at the Krannert School and present participant in various executive management programs. In 1988, Professor Moskowitz was named the first James Brooke Henderson Distinguished Professor of Management. Before coming to Purdue, Professor Moskowitz was a research engineer for General Electric (1956); a maintenance officer for the United States Air Force (1956-60); and a systems engineer for General Dynamics, Convair (1960-65).
