Purdue approves naming student-athlete facility for Brees
The University’s Board of Trustees has approved renaming the Intercollegiate Athletics Facility (IAF) the Drew and Brittany Brees Student-Athlete Academic Center.
As a Purdue senior and starting quarterback, Drew Brees (BSIM ’01) was named the Academic All-American of the Year. During the Mackey Arena renovation capital campaign, the New Orleans Saints' quarterback and his wife, Brittany, made a $2 million gift designed to help future generations of student-athletes succeed academically. School memorializes former dean Keith Smith
The Krannert School held a memorial reception earlier this year for Keith Smith, former dean and professor emeritus of finance, who died Oct. 2, 2011, at the age of 74.
Smith was dean at Krannert from 1979 to 1983, where he was instrumental in creating the Krannert Center for Executive Education and Research. He is survived by his wife, Jane; two daughters, Jamie Ferency and Julie Harney; one stepdaughter; and three grandchildren.
