Undergrad Liz Bridges brings energy to everything
Whether it’s traveling across the country for college or spending the summer in Barcelona, California native Liz Bridges is always looking for life’s next adventure.
So when perusing summer internships at the end of her sophomore year, she opted to take advantage of a study abroad program allowing her to work overseas.
Bridges spent two months in London, exploring and experiencing new culture while working as an intern at Coat House Productions. The company specializes in brand editorial video content that companies incorporate into their advertising strategies.
“Any internship is a challenge,” she says. “But trying to express my own ideas and executing different strategies was that much more difficult in a different country.”
In the marketing department, she kept records of current clients and prepared emails to land new ones. Liz was also in charge of research for the company’s current projects, including an iPhone app for Kiss.
Now a junior, Bridges also is active in numerous Purdue and Krannert organizations. She’s chair of professional development for the School of Management Council (SMC), a member of Delta Gamma sorority, and she serves as a senior associate for the Krannert Executive Forum, a management class featuring top-level corporate executives who share their experiences with students.
“Working for the Krannert Executive Forum has presented me with unique opportunities not only to network with business professionals, but also to get to know them on a personal level. By the end of the day with the speaker, I always gain valuable professional advice as well as beneficial life lessons.”
Melissa Evens, Krannert’s manager of speakers and events, says Bridges is a welcome addition to her team. “Liz is very professional and possesses a lot of curiosity and energy," Evens says. “She especially demonstrates her passion for international business when our speakers discuss global issues, and can always be counted on to ask solid questions."
This summer, Bridges will intern for the Nielsen Company as a professional services analyst in Wilton, Conn. “I will be working on multiple market research projects, mainly with Nielsen’s main client in Wilton, Procter & Gamble,” she says.
But don’t look for Bridges on campus again until next spring.
“I am going abroad for the fall 2012 semester to Thailand and Cambodia,” she says. “I will be at Payap University in Chiang Mai, Thailand, for the first two months then I will be going to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, for the final two months!”
