2010

Krannert alum Drew Brees (BSIM ’01) is named Super Bowl XLIV Most Valuable Player after leading the New Orleans Saints past the Indianapolis Colts. Brees also is named Sportsman of the Year by Sports Illustrated.

Krannert student James Franco is named the G.A. Ross Award recipient as the outstanding male senior at Purdue. A recipient of a Steven C. Beering Scholarship, Franco has a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Purdue wins the Big Ten Case Competition, held at Ohio State University. First-year MBA students Matthew Black, Saketh Chinni, D.J. Crandall, and Daniel Schwartz bring home the team trophy, and Chinni is named best overall presenter.

Jerry Lynch is named interim dean of the Krannert School, effective July 1. Another economics faculty member, Tim Cason, is named the Gadomski Chair in Economics.

Roland Parrish (BSIM ’75, MSM ’76), provides a $2 million leadership gift to support the renovation of the Management and Economics Library in the Krannert Building. The library will be renamed in his honor, marking the first time a major Purdue facility has been named in honor of an African-American alumnus.

2011

A team of Krannert undergraduate and graduate students wins the Rubicon Contest, an international case competition in Germany. Purdue had been the runner-up in the competition the previous year.

Professor Cliff Fisher receives the Murphy Award for outstanding undergraduate teaching, the highest teaching honor bestowed by Purdue.

Purdue begins offering a new bachelor of arts degree in economics. The degree comes from the College of Liberal Arts, with coursework from that college and the Krannert School.

P. Christopher Earley is named dean of the Krannert School and James Brooke Henderson Professor of Management, and assumes the deanship on November 1. He previously had been dean and Auran J. Fox Chair in Business at the University of Connecticut.

For the fourth time, Beth Brooke (BSIM ’81) is named to the Forbes “World’s 100 Most Powerful Women” list. Brooke, who played basketball at Purdue, is global vice chair at Ernst & Young.

Former dean John Day dies on March 28, and former dean Keith Smith (PhD ’66) passes away on October 2.

2012

Krannert alum Carolyn Woo (BSIM '75,  MSIA '76, PhD '79) is named CEO of Catholic Relief Services. She had been dean of the business school at the University of Notre Dame.

Launching Business Leaders is offered to undergraduate students, complementing their classroom education with lifelong professional and personal development skills. A similar program, Launching Global Leaders, rolled out to master's students in 2011.

Dean Earley meets with alumni at events in Houston, the Bay Area, New York City, Los Angeles and Chicago.

Krannert partners with EMLyon in France and Zhejiang University in China for the Global Entrepreneurship Program. The year-long offering is aimed at developing the next generation of technical entrepreneurs.

Professor Emeritus Arnie Cooper passes away on December 6.

2013

Krannert announces an on-campus One-Year MBA for STEM Professionals, to begin in 2014. The program is suited for participants to take management or leadership positions in technology-based firms.

Krannert also offers its first online master's degree in economics, the first program of its kind offered by a major research university. The programs is designed to give students with STEM backgrounds insight into business, markets and government.

Krannert graduate Jim Mitchell (BSM '89) is CEO of Fuhu, which produces an Android-based tablet for children. Fuhu is named the "fastest-growing company in the U.S." by Inc. magazine.

Jeff Reuer, the Blake Family Endowed Chair in Strategic Management and Governance, is elected as a Strategic Management Society Fellow.

In connection with the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg, Professor Brad Alge takes a group of students to the battle site as part of a course on leadership.

Purdue graduate and C-SPAN founder Brian Lamb is keynote speaker for a Krannert School alumni reception in Washington, D.C.

Purdue Athletics Director Morgan Burke, Dean Emeritus Rick Cosier and local attorney Tony Benton teach a sports management course. Guest speakers include Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany and Mark Silverman, president of the Big Ten Network.

Longtime Krannert supporter Dick Dauch (BSIM '64, HDR '99) passes away on August 2.

2014

Economics Professor David Hummels is named interim dean in September. Professor Hummels joined the Krannert faculty in 2000 and is an expert and award-winning teacher on international trade.

Krannert alum Greg Hayes (BSM '82) is named president and CEO of United Technologies Corp. Hayes is a 25-year veteran of the company.

The Women in Management program holds the first Human Library at a U.S. business school. The event promotes dialogue among community members to reduce biases and encourage understanding; "books" are people and "readers" check out books for an open and safe conversation.

The online Master's Degree in Economics is ranked in the top 10 percent of all master's degree programs in economics by The Financial Engineer.

Parrish Library is ranked #11 nationally among business-school libraries by Business Research Guide. The ranking praises the library's interactive learning spaces and study rooms.

Darren Henry, Krannert's director of diversity initiatives, receives the Emerging Leaders Award from 100 Black Men of Indianapolis and a University Partner Award from INROADS, a program that develops and places underserved youth in business and industry.

Venu Srinivasan (MSM '77), chairman of Sunderam Clayton Group, receives an honorary doctorate from Purdue. Srinivasan has received numerous awards for his work in manufacturing, including the Padma Shri Award and the JRD Tata Corporate Leadership Award.

Professor Xiaoyan Zhang is named one of the top 40 professors in the world under the age of 40 by the website Poets & Quants.

2015

Professor David Hummels is named the Krannert School's eighth dean. Dean Emeritus Dennis Weidenaar passes away at the age of 78.

Two Krannert accounting graduates, Michael Kovacich and Nathan Lyons, receive the Elijah Watt Sells Award. They finished among the top 60 of more than 91,000 people who took the Uniform CPA Examination in 2014.

Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales addresses a crowd of more than 700 at the Purdue Series on Corporate Citizenship and Ethics.

Purdue teams up with Nationwide to develop a price index to track the cost of products and services at veterinary hospitals.

Gordana Radmilovic (BSM '08) is named one of the "Women Leaders in Consulting" by Consulting magazine.

2016

Krannert begins offering a Master of Science in Business Analytics and Information Management (MS BAIM), designed to educate students in state-of-the-art information technologies and analytical techniques.

David Ricks (BSIM '90) is named president and CEO of Eli Lilly & Co., effective January 2017.

The Krannert Leadership Speakers Series moves back to Indianapolis after 13 years on campus. The event is held in conjunction with the Boiler Business Exchange, and draws 650 people to hear Olympic champion David Boudia.

Candice Lange is named first director of the Jane Brock-Wilson Women in Management Center.

Krannert faculty members David Hummels, Mara Faccio and Karthik Kannan speak at Purdue's "Dawn or Doom" technology conference, which focuses on the risks and rewards of new technology.

2017

A Krannert student team won first place in the inaugural Healthcare Analytics Case Competition at Texas A&M University. The students bested 108 other teams to win the competition, which included evaluation of more than 900 variables.

Anjana Reddy (BSM'09) is named to Forbes' 30 Under 30 for her entrepreneurial skills. Her company, Collectabillia, is a celebrity commerce company in India offering a platform for fans to own memorabilia autographed by sports stars.

The Dauch Center for the Management of Manufacturing Enterprises holds its 30th annual conference, focused on "The Future of Manufacturing."

Krannert sponsors a Boilermakers by the Bay symposium in San Francisco, focused on the Internet of Things. The keynote speaker is Brad Surak, chief operating officer at GE Digital.

Ivy Exec rates the Purdue EMBA program #1 in the Midwest for life balance and CEO Magazine ranks the IMM program #7 worldwide. 

2018

Purdue begins its sesquicentennial celebration, which will culminate in 2019. Giant Leaps features Ideas Festival topics of space, artificial intelligence, health and sustainability. The Dr. Cornell A. Bell Business Opportunity Program marks its 50th anniversary at Purdue.

Ellen Ernst Kossek, the Basil S. Turner Professor of Management and research director of the Susan Bulkeley Center for Leadership Excellence, is elected a Fellow by the Academy of Management for her significant contributions to the science and practice of management. She is only the second Krannert faculty member to receive the honor, joining Professor Emeritus Dan Schendel.

Krannert teams with the College of Engineering to offer a concurrent master's degree in engineering and business administration. The new products gives students the ability to earn both degrees in two years, rather than the three it would take to earn them separately.

Swimmer Marat Amaltdinov is awarded the Big Ten Medal of Honor. The two-time Academic All-American won the conference 200 breaststroke championship twice and earned his bachelor's degree in three years.

The Jane Brock-Wilson Women in Management Center welcomes more than three dozen high school students to campus for the Emerging Leaders Retreat. The four-day residential camp is designed to empower young girls and introduce them to careers in business through hands-on learning activities.

2019

Leading Indian business school NMIMS teams up with the Krannert School to offer students two degrees in the rapidly growing field of analytics. Upon successful completion of the two-year program, participants will earn a Master of Business Administration in decision science and analytics from NMIMS and a Master of Science in business analytics and information management (MS BAIM) from Purdue.

Sam Allen (BSIM’75, HDR’17), chairman and chief executive officer of Deere & Co., makes a $5 million gift to name the Krannert deanship and provide resources for strategic initiatives within the school. The position will be known as the Dr. Samuel R. Allen Dean of the Krannert School of Management.

Executive Education alumnus John Krenicki Jr. (MSM’91) and his wife, Donna, give a $5 million gift to Purdue. As a result, the Business and Information Analytics Center is known as the John and Donna Krenicki Center for Business Analytics and Machine Learning.

The Krannert School begins offering a STEM-designated Master of Business Administration degree option for students in four specialization areas: business analytics and information management, finance, global supply chain management or marketing. The STEM-designated MBA offers an immersive set of quantitative classes grounded in statistics, computer applications and data analysis, along with core business classes that will develop students’ analytical and problem-solving skills.

Former “Seinfeld” star Jason Alexander headlines the 19th annual Krannert Leadership Speakers Series event, drawing more than 650 people to the Indiana Roof Ballroom in downtown Indianapolis.
