What do you like most about the Krannert School and Purdue?

"One of the things I enjoy the most about Krannert and Purdue is that both institutions are not satisfied with the status quo; rather they are willing to change to provide the best possible environment for academics and research."

How would you describe West Lafayette?

"West Lafayette is more than just a college town; it is an international melting pot made up of some of the best and brightest minds from around the globe. Although Purdue University is the dominant employer in this town, there are many opportunities in the Purdue Research Park and Discovery Park for new ideas to flourish and turn into profitable companies. This makes West Lafayette an active town to live in while you or a spouse attends the University for a degree or holds employment there. The city has numerous options for day cares, recreational parks, and social activities to keep the family entertained."

Why should a prospective student choose the Krannert School?

"Krannert has a unique blend of course material that teaches you how to think through the types of complex problems that you're likely to encounter in your future jobs.  For example, many of the models I used in finance can easily lend themselves toward other types of problems, such as determining which features to create in a software project. Overall I think going for the MBA at Krannert has made me a more productive employee because I have a better understanding of business needs and I can craft the proper IT solutions to meet those needs."

What do you enjoy most about your job?

"I enjoy working with my colleagues and employees in the Krannert Computing Center. I am always amazed at how much this team can accomplish when we step up to the challenges we face every day. Our most recent and exciting project is to create a gaming sever that will allow faculty to host a variety of games to teach students important concepts and gather data for their research at the same time. Aside from working with this team, I enjoy the variety of work and responsibilities that I get in my job and the recent push into business intelligence to make better use of the data we've been gathering so we can make better business decisions in the future. How's that for putting my MBA to good use!"

How would you describe your fellow staff members at Krannert?

"I have worked in this department for nearly 10 years, and during that time I've made some strong friendships, helped people through some hard times (and I have also been helped), and I have also seen some people grow both personally and professionally as well. During this time I have also had the opportunity to bring in dozens of students in our internship program, train them how to succeed in a real-world development environment, and watch them grow into true professionals before my eyes."

What are some of your favorite Purdue activities?

"I enjoy taking walks around campus to see how it has changed since my undergraduate days and also to see the beautiful scenery in different seasons of the year.  My wife and I like to attend some of the many of the shows that come to campus, such as live concerts or Broadway musicals."

What are some of your hobbies?

"Much of my free time is spent chasing my 14-month-old son, fixing things around the house, and enjoying time with my family. On the rare occasion when time allows I enjoy woodworking types of activities, hiking in some of Indiana's most scenic state parks, or having lunch with my family at one of Lafayette's good restaurants."
