Why should a prospective student choose the Krannert School?
The first reason a prospective student should choose Krannert is the people. The students, faculty, and staff create a tight knit family from Day 1. The faculty consists of world-renowned leaders in their field as well as seasoned industry veterans. Each faculty member makes their primary mission the success of their students. Similarly, the Krannert staff is devoted to helping us grow as individuals, both professionally and personally.

The second reason a prospective student should choose Krannert is the masters program itself. Krannert offers a perfect balance between academic rigor and leadership development. The program is flexible enough to allow a student to explore all areas of business yet deep enough to allow one to become an expert in their chosen field. In addition to the academics, the Launching Global Leaders (LGL) program provides an ongoing development in the soft-skills that oftentimes are the determining factors to success.

What extracurricular clubs are you in involved in at Krannert, and how have they contributed to your experience?
I am active in many clubs but none are as meaningful as Net Impact. Net Impact is an international non-profit organization committed to using the power of business to improve the world. This organization shows that success in business and social responsibility are not mutually exclusive.

How would you describe the Krannert faculty?
The Krannert faculty measures their achievement by the success of their students. In this they are very driven. I have studied extensively in many fields and have never before experienced a group of educators who were so ready to go out of their way for their students. Many faculty have years of industry experience and make sure to supplement their academic lessons with career advice. I have also witnessed first-hand their dedication to their students after they graduate and plan on using many of them as a mentor throughout my career.

Your classmates come from a variety of work backgrounds...what have you been able to learn from them?
The student body at Purdue is among the most diverse in the world. In fact, we are currently ranked #2 in the US for international diversity. Beyond the obvious benefits of cultural diversity, Krannert also has students from all walks of life and from every industry. I finished my undergraduate degree when some of my classmates were still in elementary school but I rarely stop to consider this fact. I have found that everyone has something to give and that we can all learn from each other regardless our level of experience.

How has the Krannert School helped develop your leadership skills?
Krannert has helped hone my strengths and shore up my weaknesses. The Launching Global Leaders (LGL) initiative begins developing our leadership skills even before classes. As I sit here just a few weeks short of my first winter break I already know that I am a different person than I was entering the program. I am amazed at the amount of learning that occurs outside the traditional classroom setting. Upon entering Krannert I expected my education to come in the form of hard skills learned from lectures and books. I now realize itís the soft skills developed through team work and the LGL program that matter most.

How would you describe living in West Lafayette?
I have lived in the Lafayette/West Lafayette area for over 16 years and in that time Iíve come to know a vibrant community that has almost everything to offer a prospective resident. Within this traditional Indiana community you will find a great deal of international restaurants, cultural events and recreational activities. With Indianapolis a mere hour away and Chicago two hours away, there is nothing you canít do on the weekend. As a father, I also appreciate the safe environment and abundance of trails and parks that are located throughout both cities.

Away from Krannert...what do you do for fun?
I spend every moment I can with my two and a half year old daughter. Sheís growing up too fast to miss any of it! In addition to traditional family time, my wife and I are avid pool players. In the warmer months, we prefer to have people over for cookouts, a fire, and playing pool on our table at home.

What do you like most about the Krannert School and Purdue?
I love the diversity of my education. There has yet to be a day where I only learn about one aspect of business. Itís not uncommon to quickly shift from high level strategy to low level analytics to personal and professional development. Even better is that the program is designed such that these lessons enhance one another rather than standing alone.

How have you been assisted in your job search?
Even before the program began I was contacted by Student Services and the Krannert Professional Development Center to begin working on my job search. They take personal pride in each of our successes and push us to achieve goals we never thought possible. In my estimation, this assistance alone is worth the opportunity cost of returning to school.

Who is the person, business world or otherwise, that you most admire, and why?
As clichť as it might sound, the person I admire most is my wife. Her support is what keeps me going and her strength of character inspires me to be a better person. She keeps me grounded and reminds me that the right answer to any difficult decision is to do what I know in my heart is right.

When we catch up with you in 10 years, what do you expect to be doing?
I honestly have no idea what the next ten years will bring and I like it that way. With the breadth and depth of knowledge I am obtaining at Krannert, my life could go in any number of directions. I am confident that it will be an enjoyable journey and look forward to every day along the way!
