Tom Howatt retired as Chairman of the Board of Wausau Paper in April of 2014 after a 34 year association with the company, having served as President & Chief Executive Officer from 2000-2011 and as Chairman from 2012-2014.
Mr. Howatt currently serves as Chairman of the Board of the Wisconsin Policy Research Institute, a conservative think tank headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and dedicated to the promotion of free market principles that drive economic prosperity in the state. He also serves as Vice President and a Director of the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wausau, Wisconsin, and a Director of the Nancy Woodson Spire Foundation.
Mr. Howatt previously served as Chairman of the Board of Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce and the Wisconsin Paper Council and on the Board of Governors of the National Council for Air & Stream Improvement in addition to the boards of numerous charitable and civic foundations. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management and a Master of Science degree in Management, both from the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University.
