Scott served as Vice President of Labor Relations from 2017-2021 before leading Manufacturing Workforce Strategy in 2021.  In his previous role, he served as Executive Director, Labor Relations.  He spent 35+ years in General Motors and held a number of HR and LR positions with increasing responsibility.  He has worked in Michigan, Ohio, Texas and Australia during his career.  He played a vital role in developing the LR portion of the viability plan during the 2009 auto crisis and resolving the strikes in both Canada in 2018 and the U.S. in 2019.  He has been a strong advocate for employee engagement and has worked with various union partners to promote collaboration.

Scott was instrumental in the launch of K2 Global Partners’ Global Labor and Employee Relations Center of Excellence in January 2022.  Global LERN brings together 300+ LR/ER practitioners in North America and Europe, and Scott serves as co-leader of the US and Canada Labor and Employee Relations Networks.  As a member of the Global LERN Board of Advisors, he is involved with setting the strategic direction for the executive peer networks as well as advisory services, learning and development programs for member organizations.

He currently serves as Board Chair for Focus: Hope and has been on the board for 7 years. He is also an adjunct professor at Wayne State University teaching both International & Comparative Labor/Employment Relations and Strategic Analysis of Labor & Human Resources (capstone class) for grad students.  He served several years as a board member for SE Boys and Girls Club.  He has a passion for investing in our communities and helping young people reach their full potential.  In addition to mentoring many labor relations professionals, he encourages others to get engaged with causes that they are passionate about in their communities.

Scott holds a Bachelor’s degree in management from Purdue University. He earned his Master’s in Industrial Relations in 1986, also from Purdue University.  He has served as a member of the Purdue’s Krannert student alumni board for the last 24 years.

Scott and his wife, Sandy, have been married 35 years and reside in Oakland Township, MI. Scott and his wife serve as marriage mentors through their church.  They have three children and four grandchildren.
