About LCS

Welcome to Krannert's Leadership Communication Studio (LCS)

People and a Place

In collaboration with stakeholders, our mission is to equip students with the tools for successful academic and professional development, through unique signature learning opportunities, outside of the classroom.

The LCS goal is to help students become more confident when communicating to groups of 1 or 1000. This confidence will help students create opportunities for themselves and guide the group collectively towards holistic success.

"As a second year MBA and combined degree student, I have had the privilege of working for the LCS since it first opened in Fall 2014. Over the last couple years, the LCS has transformed to attract students from all areas of studies as well as attract recruiters from top consulting firms. As a student, I benefit not only participating in the activities organized, but also organizing them. In my time with the LCS, I have helped establish the building blocks for the case competition program and training. It has allowed me incredible networking opportunities as well as learning in developing a building blocks for a growing program. In working with the studio, I have had the opportunity to introduce executive speakers as well as have one-on-one conversations to help progress my own career."

Desiree Shannon Image

Desiree Shannon

Desiree attended Ohio University for a double major in Psychology and History. Shortly after graduating her undergrad she embarked upon a journey to serve in AmeriCorps as an Ohio College Guide. In this year of service she became passionate about giving back to the community she operates in and providing those from disadvantage backgrounds with equal opportunities to pursue their goals. Keeping this in mind she decided to pursue graduate school for her Masters degree as she wanted to develop a well-rounded business background. She believes that she can more effectively understand how to invest in nonprofit initiatives as well as operate initiatives with a business background. Desiree is a current 2nd year MBA student with a concentration in Organizational Behavior/ Human Resources. She started with the LCS in August 2016 as a graduate assistant. Working for the Leadership Communication Studio has provided her with the opportunities to collaborate and build her network, serve the Krannert community, and familiarize herself with effective project management skills. When she is not working for the LCS or studying, she enjoys baking delicious treats and volunteering in the community!

Kristina Hollars Image

Kristina Hollars

Kristina graduated from Purdue with an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2014, but after graduating followed a passion for service to a one-year AmeriCorps term with a non-profit organization in Lafayette. AmeriCorps led to a full-time position in non-profit administration, which led her back to Purdue to complete her MBA. Kristina has been a Graduate Assistant with the LCS since the fall of 2016. Her favorite part of working for the LCS is strategizing with the LCS team, and seeing students excited to engage with industry and university leaders. When she’s not studying or putting together case competitions for the LCS, Kristina works part time at a local church as a bookkeeper. In her spare time, she likes to cook and run. She also likes to work on home improvement projects with her husband Matt, and spend time with their dog Zeke and cat Titus.

“I am a junior majoring in Finance. I’m passionate about international business, financial management, and consulting. After my freshman year, I co-founded a humanitarian organization in Lima, Perú that helps reduce the needs of children living in poverty. Initiate fundraiser events that aim to provide kids ages 17 and under with school supplies, shoes, clothing, etc. I frequent Lima’s impoverished communities and host activities that provide food, arts and crafts materials, illness prevention supplies, and mentorship opportunities for the underprivileged children. After my sophomore year, I interned with Accenture Consulting in Chicago, Illinois. I operated alongside the client account and became close friends with my project team and fellow interns. I worked with new software, led an asset harvest campaign, created a social platform for the account, aided in the writing of business and technical requirements, and presented outcomes to the client. I learned many important soft skills that I look forward to maturing in the future with Accenture. On campus, I’m the president of the community service committee for Society of Minority Managers. I’m a part of the Leadership Communication Studio team and facilitate programs for students designed to help them add value to their future careers.”
