Doug Sunkel joined Cummins in 1993 and is currently Executive Director of Cummins Global Logistics. He developed & led implementation of successful business strategy to integrate aftermarket distribution & logistics support across all Cummins’ lines of business under a single service organization (Cummins Global Logistics, or CGL). Doug redesigned service parts distribution network to position inventory closer to customers, while optimizing inventory thru more frequent replenishment & advanced planning techniques. Doug is responsible for managing the growth of CGL from $1.8B to $4.5B in annual shipments, while simultaneously improving customer service & logistics cost metrics. He is champion of business process standardization initiative that has moved over 95% of Cummins’ aftermarket parts sales transactions onto a common IT platform.
Doug is an experienced practitioner of Lean & Six Sigma, driving over $30M in business improvement savings and is recognized as strong people developer, promoting supply chain functional excellence within Cummins.
Doug received a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering, from Purdue University 1986. He is married with 3 grown children & 1 grandson. He enjoys bicycling, golf, home construction & family
