Professor Bagnoli is Professor Emeritus and Olson Chair in Management and held a courtesy appointment in the Department of Economics in the Krannert Graduate School of Management. 

His research interests include applied game theory, information economics, voluntary disclosure, financial reporting and sustainability. He has published articles in the Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Accounting & Economics, The Accounting Review, Journal of Political Economy, Rand Journal of Economics, Journal of Finance, Review of Financial Studies, Management Science, Journal of Public Economics, Review of Economic Studies, Journal of Economics and Management Strategy, Economic Theory, Journal of Law, Economics and Organization, Journal of Mathematical Finance, Journal of Financial Markets, and other accounting, economics and finance journals. He is a senior editor for Production and Operations Management and serves as an occasional reviewer for more than 30 accounting, finance and economics journals. He was named a Purdue University Faculty Scholar and has been the recipient of the Jay N. Ross Young Faculty Scholar Award.

Professor Bagnoli taught financial accounting at the graduate level.  He has also taught tax strategy, game theory, corporate finance, investments, industrial organization, intermediate microeconomics and microeconomic theory and analytical modeling in accounting (financial and managerial) at the doctoral level.

    Advancing Accounting

    The Krannert School of Management presented the fourth annual Purdue Accounting Theory Conference in May with a program that included distinguished guest speakers from across the country as well as rising scholars in the field. Accounting professors Mark Bagnoli, the Olson Chair in Management, and Susan Watts, the Emanuel T. Weiler Chair in Management, served as coordinators of the conference along with Associate Professor Lin Nan.

    Fourth Annual Purdue Accounting Theory Conference

    The Accounting Faculty held the fourth annual Purdue Accounting Theory Conference on May 18 and 19, 2018. The program included distinguished guest speakers from across the country.

    Accounting faculty selected for Best Paper Award


    The American Accounting Association’s Management Accounting Section Publications Committee has selected Mark Bagnoli’s and Susan Watts's paper “Knowing versus Telling Private Information about a Rival”, published in the Journal of Management Accounting Research in 2013, to be awarded the 2015 Journal of Management Accounting Research Best Paper Award. The Publications committee considered all research papers published in JMAR between 2013 and 2015, and judged their paper to have the highest potential impact on management accounting research.
