The Purdue University Research Center in Economics' Economic Ideas Forum is a unique opportunity for concerned members of the community and faculty, staff and students to hear the latest research on topics ranging from the opioid crisis to the unintended effects of regulation to discrimination in the labor market.

An afternoon PURCE faculty symposia runs from 1:30 to 5 p.m. in Rawls Hall, and the forum concludes with a discussion on trade policy and negotiations strategy featuring Irwin; Krannert Dean Dr. David Hummels; and Krannert Associate Dean Dr. David Schoorman.

The day's events include:

Noon: Private lunch and talk by Doug Irwin with faculty, Ph.D. students, and PURCE supporters.

Rawls 3082: Joe Mazur on the economics of antitrust policy

2:45-3:45 p.m.

Rawls 2082: Victoria Prowse on the science of motivation
Rawls 3058: John Umbeck on the unintended effects of regulation
Rawls 3082: Timothy Bond on discrimination in the labor market

4:00-5:00 p.m.

Rawls 2082: Lynne Kiesling on economic regulation and digital electricity platforms
Rawls 3058: Jillian Carr on crime and poverty
Rawls 3082: Trevor Gallen on inequality in the United States

The forum's capstone is a fireside chat on trade policy and negotiations strategy features guest Doug Irwin; David Hummels, the Dr. Samuel R. Allen Dean of the Krannert School of Management; and Krannert Associate Dean Dr. David Schoorman. Join us in Fowler Hall from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Free and open to all.
