Paul Ryder is Vice President of Media and Student Programs for Amazon. Amazon and Purdue recently announced a Purdue Student Store on Amazon, a co-branded experience where students can purchase textbooks and other college essentials. Amazon will also bring staffed customer pickup and drop-off locations to Purdue’s campus.
Mr. Ryder also been with Amazon since 2006. He has led Amazon’s North American physical media business, which includes books, movies, video games and software. He also led Amazon’s Canadian business, Amazon.ca. Previously, he was Vice President of Consumer Electronics and Vice President of Digital, where he led the global Android and Kindle Appstore, digital video game and software businesses and initiatives, and Cloud Drive.
Prior to joining Amazon.com, Mr. Ryder was Vice President of Business & General Aviation for Honeywell, where he had global responsibility for the $650 million commercial avionics business. He previously served as Vice President/General Manager of Aerospace Lighting at Honeywell. He also worked for several years at General Electric, most recently as General Manager of e-Business for GE Capital/GE Appliances. He began his corporate career as a Project Engineer with Pratt & Whitney.
Mr. Ryder earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and an executive master’s degree in management from Purdue.
