Founder and Chief Executive Officer
My Density Matters

Leslie Ferris Yerger is an author, speaker, and Founder and CEO of My Density Matters. She speaks and writes, raising awareness about breast density and the next generation of breast cancer screening, empowering women with the knowledge they need to advocate for themselves.

Leslie was diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer in November of 2017, when abnormalities were found during a routine bone density scan. Unfortunately, her cancer was not visible on either a mammogram on an ultrasound, as is sometimes the case when breast cancer is hidden in dense breast tissue. This is not a failure of anyone, but it is simply a failure of our current breast cancer screening technology.

After her diagnosis, Leslie fundraised for research during her Camino de Santiago pilgrimage in the fall of 2018, and wrote her first book, Probably Benign. And now, Leslie has founded the not-for-profit organization, My Density Matters, to empower women to find out their breast density, learn their options, and insist on the breast cancers screening they need, so more women with breast cancer become survivors.

Leslie was born and raised in Worthington, Indiana. She attended Purdue University, where she earned degrees in computer science and industrial management, and she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. She also obtained her masters degree in business administration (MBA) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is both a proud Boilermaker and Tar Heel.
