Director of Learning and Development
Nina Swanson has been with PayPal for over 10 years. She has held a variety of roles in the Learning and Organization Development function including L&OD partner to the largest BU in PayPal (Global CS & Ops); was lead on an eBay Inc initiative to improve People Manager Effectiveness globally; focused on work to support the eBay/PayPal separation to ensure the core people processes continue during the transition and are seamlessly implemented. She has lead global teams that facilitated core Talent Management, Performance Management and Organization Effectiveness initiatives.
She is now the global lead for a newly formed team called Talent Development and Performance. She and her team are tasked to re-imagine the core performance management and talent management process and rhythms for PayPal Inc.
Prior to joining eBay/PayPal in 2005, Nina spent 6 years with a financial services firm as the Director for OD and Learning. She was responsible for a broad scope of OD work including Executive Development and building a robust team-based and leadership culture. Prior to that, she spent 4 years at PriceWaterhouse Coopers in the Strategic Change group working with clients across the East coast to facilitate large scale change efforts. She also spent 2 years with a large healthcare provider in Michigan focusing on Management and Leadership Development. She started her career with IBM providing insights into Diversity and organizational culture during significant business upheaval.
Nina earned a BA in Psychology from St. Olaf College in Northfield MN and a Masters Degree in Labor and Industrial Relations from Michigan State University. She lives in Omaha NE with her husband, two children and Scout (the dog). When not at work she enjoys cooking, enjoying her husband’s gardens and time on the lake at her cabin in Northern Wisconsin.
