CV

Suresh Chand is the Louis A. Weil Jr. Chair of Management and Professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management at the Krannert School of Management. His research and teaching interests include analysis and improvement of production processes on dimensions of cost, quality, time and flexibility with applications in manufacturing and healthcare. His current research focuses on capacity and production planning to improve volume flexibility, reducing flow time for patients, and developing supply chain models to match supply with demand with multiple orders.

Professor Chand has published over 50 articles, many with PhD students, in leading journals including Operations Research, Management Science, Manufacturing and Service Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, Healthcare Management Science, Naval Research Logistics, Operations Research Letters, and European Journal of Operational Research. Professor Chand served as Associate Editor for Management Science for over 20 years (1986-2008), Associate Editor for INFOR, Canadian Journal of Operational Research and Information Processing (1985-99), Area Editor for Production and Operations Management(1992-2003), Associate Editor for Production and Operations Management (2009-15), and Senior Editor for Manufacturing and Service Operations Management (1999-2004). He was the General Chair for POM 2005, the annual international conference of the Production and Operations Management Society.

Professor Chand has developed and taught a variety of Operations Management courses at Krannert ranging from core courses for MBA (both regular and executive) and undergraduate students to electives for MBA and undergraduate students on topics such as Factory Physics, Technology Management, Supply Chain Management, and Service Operations Management. He also teaches doctoral seminars and a Summer Study Abroad course with field work at TVS Motors in India. He taught Operations MAnagement courses at Purdue's campus in Hannover, Germany for 9 years. Professor Chand is routinely recognized as one of Outstanding and Distinguished teachers at Krannert.

Professor Chand served as the Associate Dean of Graduate Programs from 2013 to 2016. During this time, he also served as academic director of regular and weekend MBA programs.
