A memorial display case honoring the late Dr. Cornell A. Bell, the longtime director of the Business Opportunity Program (BOP), was dedicated in October during a ceremony in the Krannert Drawing Room.

Faculty/Staff Honors

Prof. Mike Campion, organizational behavior/human resources, was named the Herman C. Krannert Professor of Management. He also was honored by the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology with the 2009 Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award. … Prof. Tim Folta, strategic management, was named the Brock Family Chair in Strategic Management. He also was the 2009–10 recipient of the Fulbright Special Award for the 60th anniversary of the Fulbright program in Italy. Part of the award includes spending four months in Calabria and Rome lecturing and conducting research on high-technology entrepreneurship. … Prabuddha De, Accenture Professor of Information Technology, was named a Distinguished Fellow by Information Systems Society of INFORMS (Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences). The honor is based on his research contributions, involvement in editorial positions, and mentoring of doctoral students and junior faculty. … Prof. Joan Allatta, strategic management, was voted by graduating seniors as Krannert’s Outstanding Undergraduate Teacher. Continuing term lecturer Robert Holland, economics, and Prof. Cliff Fisher, business law, were recognized with Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching awards.

Boregowda receives service-learning grant

The University’s Center for Instructional Excellence awarded Satish Boregowda, continuing term lecturer in quantitative methods, a 2009–10 Purdue Service-Learning Grant.


As part of the $2,000 award, students in Boregowda’s Marketing Research (MGMT 425) class will conduct a project to examine the economic potential for sustainable business development in the Lafayette–West Lafayette area.

Boregowda says the project’s motto — "Global Mitosis" — highlights the integration of local networks that lead to global connections.

"This study will provide an avenue for management students to think like entrepreneurs, while keeping in mind the needs of the community and the environment," he says.

Johnson honored with memorial reception, scholarship

Professor Emeritus Robert "Bob" Johnson, who died November 6, 2009, following a long illness, was celebrated this March with a memorial reception in the Krannert Center’s Weiler Lounge.

Johnson served as a professor of finance at Purdue for 33 years and was the founding director of Krannert’s Credit Research Center. He won the Salgo Noren award for outstanding master’s program teaching twice and served as chairman of the Management Policy Committee for nearly a decade.
