‘Seinfeld’ star Jason Alexander to keynote Leadership Speakers Series

Economic Ideas Forum features global trade policy expert Doug Irwin

U.S. trade policy expert Doug Irwin spoke at the Economic Ideas Forum on April 18. The Giant Leaps Series event included faculty and staff research workshops in the morning and afternoon and concluded with a fireside chat about trade policy and negotiations strategy that took place in Stewart Center’s Fowler Hall. Joining Irwin was David Hummels, the Dr. Samuel R. Allen Dean of the Krannert School of Management, and David Schoorman, associate dean for executive education and global programs, and professor of management. More

Purdue Day of Giving leaps to $41.6 million, reaches six-year total of $146.9 million

In its sixth year, Purdue Day of Giving raised $41.6 million, set the fifth straight record for a 24-hour higher education fundraising campaign and reached a cumulative total of $146.9 million in gifts for Purdue University.  Under the mantle “150 Years of Giant Leaps,” the university’s sesquicentennial theme, the social media-based event on April 24 outstripped last year’s record-setting performance of $37.6 million, 18,663 gifts and 58 participating countries. Krannert PhD students and staffer honored for teaching excellence

Krannert PhD students Chen Wei (Economics) and Michael Woeppel (Management) were among the graduate students and postdoctoral scholars honored with 2019 Teaching Academy Graduate Teaching Awards in April at the 21st Annual Celebration of Graduate Teaching Excellence, hosted by the Office of the Provost, Purdue Teaching Academy, Graduate School and Center for Instructional Excellence. Candice Lange, director of the Brock-Wilson Center for Women in Management, was awarded a 2018-19 Certificate of Foundations in College Teaching. More

Indiana students showcase classroom business at Krannert event

Local elementary students showcased businesses they developed through a Purdue University Krannert School of Management program that promotes entrepreneurship in the classroom. The Classroom Business Enterprise showcase took place on April 10 in the Krannert Drawing Room. The event featured businesses started by students and teachers from schools in Lafayette and Frankfort, Indiana. Classrooms received funding, training and support from the Purdue Center for Economic Education, which coordinates the program and the annual showcase. More

Krannert, NMIMS introduce dual degree program in business analytics

Leading Indian business school NMIMS is teaming up with Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management to offer students two degrees in the rapidly growing field of analytics. Upon successful completion of the two-year program, participants will earn a Master of Business Administration in decision science and analytics from NMIMS and a Master of Science in business analytics and information management (MS BAIM) from Purdue. The MBA program at NMIMS is ranked sixth in India by The Economic Times, while the MS BAIM program at Purdue is ranked No. 1 in the United States by CIO magazine and 12th globally by QS World University Rankings. Student-created Purdue app aims to make ride sharing easier

College students looking to share a ride for a weekend getaway, a trip home or a spring break vacation now have a new option from a Purdue University-affiliated startup. A group of students from Purdue University created UniRide – a ride-booking app for college students. One of the founders of UniRide is Zurum Okereke, who is pursuing a degree in economics from the Krannert School and a BS in industrial engineering from the College of Engineering. Students looking to be drivers or riders can visit the UniRide website or the app store to download the app. More
