Renewed friendships

Alumni from Krannert’s MSIA class of 1966 gathered to celebrate their 40th anniversary in October, enjoying a weekend of renewed friendships, Purdue football, and a tour of the school accompanied by Professor Emeritus Arnie Cooper; Prof. Bill Lewellen, finance; and Prof. Dan Schendel, strategic management. Promotions & Honors

Congratulations to the following Krannert faculty and staff members for their accomplishments in the fall semester:

Charalambos “Roko” AliprantisCharalambos “Roko” Aliprantis, Distinguished Professor of Economics and professor of mathematics, was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Athens at a ceremony in Greece. Aliprantis was cited for being a distinguished scientist in his field who, through outstanding work, has bestowed praise and credit on the field of mathematics.

Tim FoltaProf. Tim Folta, strategic management,received an award for the “Best Paper Exploring the Importance of Small Businessesto the U.S. Economy or a Public Policy Issue of Importance to the Entrepreneurial Community” from the Office of Advocacy, U.S. Small Business Administration. Folta wrote the paper, titled “A Real Charalambos Aliprantis Deb Bearden Alok Chaturvedi Tim FoltaOptions Model of Stepwise Entry into Self-Employment,” with Karl Wennberg from Stockholm School of Economics and Frederic Delmar from EM Lyon.

Alok ChaturvediProf. Alok Chaturvedi, management information systems, was selected as one of 2006’s Federal 100 — the top executives from government, industry, and academia who had the greatest impact on the government information systems community. His accomplishments were recognized in Federal Computer Week magazine and at a black-tie gala held in McLean, Virginia. … The Purdue Academic Advising Association (PACADA) has named undergraduate advisor

Deb BeardenDeb Bearden the University’s 2006–07 Outstanding Academic Advisor. Bearden, who joined Krannert in 1999, also received  the award in 2003–04, the first year it was presented.
