Taeyong finished his MBA program at the University of Michigan, Ross School of Business, with emphases in analytics and strategy. He completed his undergraduate education in applied statistics from Yonsei University, one of the top universities in South Korea. He has more than four years of professional experience in the financial services, retail, and technology industries.
Most recently, he worked as MBA product manager/analyst intern at WeissBeerger, an Internet of Things beer analytics big data startup located in Israel. His biggest contribution was taking point-of-sale data and incorporating that to draft beer data in Korea, providing the best promotional strategies to increase both beer and food sales.
Taeyong also worked for Amazon as an MBA senior product manager intern. He analyzed over 455K interactions between third-party sellers and Amazon. He implemented statistical models to show which of these third-party relationships were best and worst and devised strategies to decrease frictions between third-party sellers and Amazon, helping Amazon reduce labor costs by 12%.
At Purdue, Taeyong aims to leverage his knowledge and experience with a deeper understanding of data analytics. He is passionate about learning new things and making an impact on society based on his strategies.
