What to Wear and When to Wear It

Mens Casual


Shorts/slacks/jeans with a t-shirt or sweatshirt

No ripped jeans and no low-riding jeans - wear a belt if needed

When to wear it:  Class, social events on campus

Business Casual

Mens Business Casual

A good business casual outfit is a button down shirt with a sport coat (or sweater), khaki pants with a belt, dress socks, and loafers - a tie will dress this up a bit

Following is a range of outfits starting with more casual to more businesslike:

  • Khaki pants and polo shirt
  • Khaki pants and a button-down shirt
  • Khaki pants, sport coats, and polo shirt
  • Khaki pants, sport coat, and a button-down shirt
  • Dress pants, sport coat/blazer and tie

For business casual events, men should not wear tennis shoes, sweats, jeans, or shorts.

Business Professional

Mens Business Professional

Professional events require a business suit.

A good professional outfit is a dark blue or grey suit, a starched white shirt, a coordinating tie, leather belt, dress socks, and polished dress shoes.

Men should not wear khaki pants or any separates (i.e. sport coat and khaki pants).

When to wear it: Interviews, CityTreks, Information sessions

Hygiene Requirements

  • Daily Shower
  • Daily Use of Deodorant
  • Minimal Use of Scent
  • Daily Teeth Cleaning
  • Mouthwash as Needed
  • Breath Mints before an Interview
