The Krannert School of Management at Purdue University has a very special legacy in the field of strategic management.  Krannert originated the world's first doctoral program in strategic management to train scholars to help managers make better decisions. This Ph.D. program has launched the careers of many of the field's most prominent and prolific scholars. Krannert is also the birthplace and former home of both the Strategic Management Journal and the Strategic Management Society, as well as the source of much of the early quantitative research in strategic management, and has influenced a legacy of research that has helped shape the field since.

To help acknowledge and celebrate our alumni’s role in these accomplishments, we had our first Krannert Strategy Alumni Conference, a “family reunion” for former students and faculty involved with the program, held on May 18 and 19, 2018.  Highlights from the program included keynote addresses and plenary sessions from Professor Emeritus Dan Schendel, PhD alumnus and former Krannert faculty Carolyn Woo, PhD alumnus Karel Cool, and Javier Gimeno.  There were 22 attendees from as far away as INSEAD attending and/or leading session over the two days.  All of which said that this should not be the last get-together of this nature.  We look forward to planning and hosting the event in the future which is tentatively scheduled for May of 2020, made possible through the generous funding of Dean Hummels and a gift from Dr. Dan Schendel.
