Call for Proposals Business Ethics Education and Research

Friday, February 5, 2021

Through the generosity of a donor we have available a recurring funding source, The Blake Family Fund for Ethics, Leadership and Governance, to invest in Krannert programming connected to Business Ethics. We seek proposals in three categories

  • Research (and dissemination thereof) into causes and consequences of ethical / unethical behavior by business leaders.

  • Curricular development that incorporates the topic of business ethics. This could include new courses, course modules, course content (videos, case studies), or student research opportunities, as well as “train the trainer” pedagogical development to assist other faculty in introducing ethics programming in existing courses.

  • Co-curricular content involving, for example, student clubs, case competitions, service learning or Learning Community Projects

Format of the Proposal: Submissions should be a single pdf file, not to exceed two pages of text, with a separate budget page added. They should include: a statement of the problem; activities proposed; personnel included; deliverables expected and a timeline. Multi-year proposals are acceptable, so long as the activity proposed reasonably requires more than a year to complete, but some concrete deliverable in year 1 will increase the odds of funding. Budget items can include faculty/staff time and supplies and expenses including travel and hospitality.

Basis for Evaluation.

  •        Is the problem to be addressed important and relevant to business ethics?
  •       Does the deliverable have an impact on student learning or research on the topic of ethics, reach a large audience and have broad scope for impact? How do the benefits extend beyond the individual investigator(s)?
  •       Is the budget reasonable in light of deliverables and directly tied to those deliverables?
  •       What is the likelihood that the personnel included will successfully provide that deliverable?

Faculty will need to submit their proposal and budget page by March 15, 2021, to be considered for funding.  Submissions will be made via InfoReady at https://purdue.infoready4.com/   If you are not familiar with InfoReady, you must access using your Purdue email that you were originally assigned (no alias accounts).  Boilerkey dual authorization is also required in the login process.

Those who are chosen for funding will be notified no later than April 12, 2021.
