Applying for a Graduate Certificate

To be considered for the Daniels School of Business Online Graduate Certificate program(s), you must apply for the graduate certificate using the Graduate School’s online application, even if you are currently enrolled at Purdue University. Applicants will be required to pay the application fee.

Please refer to the “Instructions for Applying to Economics/Management Graduate Certification” information below for step-by-step instructions on how to apply for the Daniels School of Business Online Graduate Certificate programs.

New student applicants can be admitted to only one graduate certificate program in their first semester.

Admission Requirements

To be admitted to the Daniels School of Business Certificate program, applicants must submit the following documents to complete the application:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a GPA of 3.0 or higher*
  • Current resume
  • Academic Statement of Purpose
  • Personal History Statement
  • Official transcripts from all universities attended in the original language as well as the English translation for transcripts and diplomas not in English.
  • Video Interview: Applicants will need to schedule a 15-minute online interview to introduce yourself to admissions staff. This brief interview is an opportunity to build your relationship with Purdue, so be yourself. Details to schedule this interview will be sent to the applicant's email address once your application is completed.

GMAT and TOEFL requirement has been waived for Online Graduate Certificates.

*In lieu of the degree requirement above, Purdue University Undergraduate students (Senior/Junior standing) must provide a current official transcript. Undergraduate students will be awarded the graduate certificate and conferral on official Purdue University transcript upon completion of the current undergraduate degree.

Thank you for your interest in our Online Certificates! The following will assist you in completing your Graduate School application and preparing your supporting documents.

*Applicants can only be admitted to 1 Graduate Certificate program per semester.

Please note that this system automatically saves your information. If you need to return to it later, exit the application and all your latest information will be saved. You will need to log back in to continue or view your applications. Changes cannot be made after you submit.

  • Click the Apply Here button (above) or visit: https://gradapply.purdue.edu/apply/
  • Click "Returning Users" if you recall your account, if not, click "Create an Account". Fill in your information.
  • You will receive an email with your temporary PIN. Enter the temporary PIN supplied in the email and use the dropdown menu to select your birthdate. Click "Login".
  • Set a password on the next screen.
  • This will bring you to the Application Management home page, where you will click "Start New Application" near the bottom.
  • Select the year from the dropdown menu, then select the Graduate Application for your application year. Click "Create Application".
  • Click "Open Application"
  • You will notice the application consists of several sections on the left side of the screen. Please first read the instructions and click “Continue” at the bottom.
  • For Personal Background, Emergency Contact, and Residency, complete all required fields and click "Continue."
  • Campus and Program:
    • If you are a new or returning student, confirm you are not a current registered graduate student. Then, select current status to Purdue University that best describes your situation. Alumni / former Purdue students should select Current or Former Purdue Undergrad or Former Purdue Graduate Student Re-entering depending on their degree completed or last Purdue credits taken.
    • If you are a current student, confirm your current status as a registered graduate student. Then, select Apply as a Dual Degree Grad Student as your current status at Purdue University.
    • Complete the remaining questions regarding your Purdue University employment status. Then select Purdue West Lafayette from the dropdown menu.
    • If you are applying for "Business Economics and Data Analytics", "Financial Economics", or "Public Economics and Policy", select "Economics" as your proposed graduate major.
    • If you are applying for "Business Analytics", "Business Essentials", "Fundamentals of Human Resources", "Global Supply Chain Management", "Innovation and Technology Commercialization", or "Leadership, Change Management and Negotiation", select "Management" as your proposed graduate major.
    • Once you select your proposed graduate major, a new tab will appear on the left titled First Choice Program Details.
    • First Choice Program Details: Select your preferred certificate program from the Degree Objective dropdown window, select "Distance" as your primary Course Delivery Method, and select your Entry Term and Year from the dropdown menu.
  • For the remaining sections: Fill in all required fields and click "Continue."
    • Education Background requires program information and official transcripts from your conferred Bachelor's degree. Review the "Submit Transcripts" information before uploading documentation.
    • Additional Information: Only complete fields which pertain to you.
    • Test Scores and Recommendations: These sections are optional. Skip by clicking "Continue".
  • Review: Address any detected errors and click "Submit Application" when ready. Remember, changes can no longer be made after you click submit.
  • You will need to pay the application fee. No application fee waivers will be issued.
  • Visit the application site again by clicking Apply Here above, or visit: https://gradapply.purdue.edu/apply/
  • Select "Log in" under "Returning users", and input the password you created for the application system.
  • Click your application to open it.
  • You will receive communication via email on the next steps upon review of your application.
