Change Your Major

Are you ready to change your major? These steps will help you navigate the process.

Step 1:

Work closely with your current academic advisor to make sure you meet the requirements to CODO. You can always come to non-Daniels School student drop-in hours and meet with an academic advisor who can review the requirements with you.

Step 2:

Once you meet the requirements to CODO or are enrolled in the classes required to CODO, ask your current advisor to submit your CODO request.

Step 3:

You can check myPurdue for a status update and next steps. Go to the “Academics” tab, find the “Personal Information” section, and click on “Review your CODO requests.”

Request Multiple Degrees

Did you want to pursue a dual degree? The request to pursue multiple degrees will allow you to enroll in separate degree programs within two Purdue schools/colleges concurrently.

Non-School of Business Students

You’ll need to work with your current academic advisor to make sure you meet the CODO requirements for your intended Daniels School of Business major. Please see above for CODO requirements. If you have questions, please visit us during our non-business school student drop-in hours.

CODO FAQs

If you meet the CODO requirements and you submit your request during the first two weeks of the semester, your request would be processed and made effective immediately.

If you submit your request any time after the first two weeks of the semester and you meet the requirements to CODO, the request would be processed and made effective for the next term. However, you would be able to work with an academic advisor in the business school immediately.

If you meet the required GPA and you’re currently enrolled in the final courses needed to meet CODO requirements, your request will be accepted conditionally. Please note, your final courses you need for CODO requirements must be in progress at the Purdue West Lafayette campus. Also, to be eligible, you need to have already earned at least 12 graded credit hours from Purdue West Lafayette and be in good academic standing (not on academic notice).

After being accepted conditionally, you will be assigned an academic advisor in the Daniels School of Business. You will also have access to any Daniels School of Business restricted courses. At the end of the semester, your final grades will be reviewed. If you do not meet the CODO requirements, you’ll be removed from any Daniels School of Business restricted courses that you’re registered for in the upcoming semester. Your major will also be changed back to your previous major.

Please note, you are eligible to conditionally CODO only one time to any one College or School. If your conditional CODO is reversed and you want to try again, you’ll have to wait for your final grades to post for the semester before you can CODO.

You must meet the below requirements.

  • Meet our minimum GPA requirements.
  • Enrolled in any required courses only at Purdue West Lafayette.
  • Earned 12 graded credit hours at Purdue West Lafayette.
  • Be in good academic standing (not on academic notice).

Please note, you are eligible to conditionally CODO only one time to any one College or School. If your conditional CODO is reversed and you want to try again, you’ll have to wait for your final grades to post for the semester to CODO.
