Studying abroad can be very affordable, but like any educational opportunity, it requires planning. Study abroad programs vary in cost, depending on the type of program (Exchange, Co-Sponsored, or Direct Enroll), length of stay (year, semester, summer or spring break) and destination. In order to make study abroad affordable for interested students, Purdue offers many study abroad scholarship opportunities.

Ms. Handel retired as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Applied Materials Inc. in January 2007. She had worked for the company in increasingly responsible roles since 1985. Applied Materials makes the equipment to make semiconductors and, in a recent move, solar power cells. Ms Handel was recognized for her work as CFO by Institutional Investor magazine which listed her among the "Best CFOs in America" in 2006 and by the Bay Area CFO of the Year Awards (2006) which recognized her community service.
Jennifer Liu is the Director of a Program Management Office with OBXtek, a government contracting firm. Prior to joining OBXtek, she worked at Verizon in increasingly senior roles for 16 years. Jennifer has stayed involved with Purdue serving as the President of the Purdue Club of D.C. for more than four years, mentoring students through MGMT 295, and joining the Daniels School Alumni Board. It is through Jennifer's work and life experiences that she feels strongly that students should take advantage of the opportunity to study abroad as it will help students post-graduation with the global workplace. Jennifer is an avid traveler and tries to get out to "see the world" at least once a year. As a continuous learner, there is always something she manages to take away from her trips that she can apply to her everyday life.
This endowment was established by David C. Tucker (BS 1969 Industrial Management) and Diane Reese Tucker in November 2018. This endowment supports scholarships for in-state students enrolled in the Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr. School of Business and participating in Study Abroad.
