Why did you choose Krannert?
I choose Krannert because it gave me a small school feel within a big university. I saw the opportunity to connect with professors and fellow students and felt that I could grow as a professional.
What is your favorite Purdue memory so far?
I grew up a huge Purdue sports fan, so I have to say that my favorite memory is storming the field after the Purdue versus Ohio State game or any game in Mackey Arena.
Why did you decide to join School of Management Employers Forum (SMEF)?
I joined SMEF because I wanted to get involved right away freshman year. I knew a couple of the current SMEF members, and I wanted to be a part of such a welcoming, fun, and purposeful club!
What has been the biggest benefit of being part of SMEF?
The biggest benefit has been the connections you are able to form with recruiters and companies that come to the bi-annual SMEF career fairs. It has also been an amazing way to develop professionally and gain leadership experience.
Describe the major events your club does every year.
SMEF is most well known for its fall and spring career fairs. There are usually over 100 different companies and we put on prep events and coordinate interviews as well. Throughout the year, we will also host alumni panels and other career development events.
What has this club added to your college experience both socially and from a professional development standpoint?I have been able to create a great group of friends through SMEF. I have also been able to develop professionally by holding different leadership experiences and attending numerous career development events put on by SMEF.
Why would you recommend this club to other students?
I would strongly recommend joining SMEF for the ability to connect with recruiters and join a meaningful organization where you can hold important leadership positions.
What other extra-curricular activities do you participate in? What have you learned from those experiences?
I am a member of Zeta Beta Tau fraternity, where I have learned how to coordinate with many different types of people and advisors. I held a recruitment position, so I learned how to look for and interview for an organization.
Other than clubs, what has made a major difference to you when it comes to your college experience?
I have really taken advantage of not being scared to try new things. This could be in the form of joining new organizations, meeting new classmates, and forming strong connections with professors and faculty.
