I chose Krannert because I felt like it fostered a great learning environment academically, professionally, and personally.
What is your favorite Purdue memory so far?
One of my favorite Purdue memories is watching Purdue beat Ohio State in football!
Why did you decide to join Women in Business (WIB)?
I joined WIB because I wanted to be a part of a network of women who empower and support one another.
What has been the biggest benefit of being part of WIB?
There have been several benefits to joining this amazing group of women! First, I have been able to learn and grow as a professional as well as have several opportunities to network with various professionals. Moreover, I have been able to make long lasting friends, which is invaluable
Describe the major events WIB does every year.
The club’s biggest event is the Monarch Leadership Conference hosted annually in the spring. During this event, we have several keynote speakers, panels that talk about a variety of topics such as professional development and diversity and inclusion, a networking event with a variety of companies, and more!
What has WIB added to your college experience both socially and from a professional development standpoint?
This club has given me a community of women to lean on for support and I have been able to make several friends within the organization. Moreover, I have been able to take on several leadership roles that have helped me develop professionally.
Why would you recommend WIB to other students?
I recommend this club to everyone because it provides so many opportunities to grow professionally and personally along with providing a community of support students. We are open to all students regardless of major!
What other extra-curricular activities do you participate in? What have you learned from those experiences?
Throughout my Purdue experience, I have been able to serve as a mentor in the Krannert Mentoring and Leadership Program as well as a Peer Coach for the MGMT 295 class for Larsen Leaders Academy. Both these experiences were very meaningful to me as I was able to help build and support underclassman and help prepare them professionally.
Other than clubs, what has made a major difference to you when it comes to your college experience?
A class that has made a huge difference in my college experience is MGMT 490, Change Management, with Professor Ben Dunford. This class teaches you how to be an effective leader and challenges you to change the way you think! I HIGHLY recommend this class to everyone!
Tell us about your internship(s), and/or tell us about what you will be doing after graduation.
I was the employee benefits intern at Allegion, Plc. I created and aided in the implementation of in-depth reference guides for a new leave of absence process to over 4200 U.S. based employees. I developed a retiree kit that included content and resources for benefits, Medicare, and extracurricular involvement. I researched and provided recommendations for the Talent Acquisition team to improve the career site. I connected with this company through the career fair. I was regional initiatives intern at the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership: I coordinated logistics and promoted five professional development events increasing attendance by 99% and regional company representation by 63%. I organized and analyzed survey data collected at all five professional development events. I developed and produced blogs and emails for marketing team throughout the professional development series. I connected with this organization through IndianaIntern.Net.
