Alumni honored for leadership, service

Daymond John keynotes annual speakers series

Daymond John, founder of the apparel company FUBU and TV personality on ABC’s Shark Tank, gave the keynote address on Oct. 8 at Krannert School of Management’s 15th annual Leadership Speakers Series.

The event also recognized several alumni, including Marge Magner (MSIA ’74, HDR ’04), who received the Krannert Business Leadership Award, the school’s highest honor. Magner is a founding member Brysam Global Partners and has more than 30 years of experience in the consumer financial services sector. Prior to forming Brysam, Magner served as chairman and CEO of the Global Consumer Group at Citigroup.

Magner has been named to the Fortune magazine list of Most Powerful Women in Business, Forbes list of the 100 World’s Most Powerful Women and U.S. Banker’s list of the Most Powerful Women in Banking. She is a director of Accenture and Gannett and also serves on the boards of the Brooklyn College Foundation and Millennium Promise.

Tom and Mary HowattMagner also received the President’s Council Distinguished Pinnacle Award in recognition of the significant impact her generous gifts to student and faculty programs, organizations and initiatives. Pinnacle Awards recognize donors to the university who have given more than $1 million.

Tom Howatt (BSIM ’72, MSM ’73) and his wife, Mary, (above with Purdue President Mitch Daniels) also were recognized with a Pinnacle Award for a $1.5 million donation to create the Thomas J. Howatt Chair in the Krannert School of Management.
