“Speaking with other practice managers who are battling similar obstacles and problem-solving with them has been instrumental.”

— Carrie Brzostowski

What we offer

The Veterinary Practice Management Program is designed for veterinary professionals of all types.

The program, developed by Purdue's Krannert School of Management and College of Veterinary Medicine, teaches sophisticated, industry-specific techniques that you can immediately apply to improve your practice and develop your management skills. You will learn about strategic decision-making, service marketing, financial management, staff training, supervision and conflict management, and strategic entrepreneurship; these key management topics are taught with specific application to veterinary practice. The program draws upon faculty and resources from Krannert's Graduate School of Management as well as guest faculty who have extensive experience in management and have studied the business dynamics that are unique to veterinary medicine. The professors deliver engaging course content with the benefit of 30 years of experience teaching veterinary professionals.

Additionally, the connections you make with other veterinary professionals in the program will help you grow both personally and professionally. Sharing your experiences and challenges with other veterinary professionals creates an excellent learning opportunity and expands your network to include people who can provide support long after the program ends.

Who should attend?

Veterinarians, veterinary technicians, practice managers, veterinary industry professionals and veterinary students are encouraged to attend. There are significant benefits to having a practice's entire management team attend the program. Participants will be better able to develop an in-depth business plan and solve problems.

Attendees are encouraged to follow the program modules in this order:

  • Developing and Leading Your Veterinary Team.
  • Veterinary Practice Financials: Learning Where to Start.
  • Marketing and Social Media for Your Veterinary Clinic.
  • Strategic Thinking: Creating a Plan for Loyalty and Growth.
CVPM Qualified Continuing Education

During the later modules, participants can interact with faculty from previous modules and discuss implementing new ideas and procedures developed during the program.

All courses in this program are applicable toward the continuing education requirement for the Certified Veterinary Practice Manager Program offered by the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association.
