Empowering Women in Business Course

Discover How Women are Excelling in Business   

Krannert’s Brock-Wilson Center for Women in Management, in partnership with the Purdue University Summer College for High School Students is announcing an exciting summer program for college credit, Empowering Women in Business, July 12 - 17, 2020.  Designed for young women in high school, the five-day residential retreat on Purdue’s West Lafayette campus includes hands on activities to promote team building and skills in leadership, confidence and negotiation.  The program will introduce students to the business principles of economics, strategy, marketing, supply chain and finance – while other fun and engaging activities provide a glimpse of life as a Purdue Boilermaker. 

What to Expect?

• Explore potential careers in business and entrepreneurship through hands-on learning experiences

• Learn to navigate your way through gender challenges by engaging in confidence and empowerment role-plays

• Apply your new skills and imagination to design a business and create a sales pitch to potential investors

• Interact with Purdue students, faculty and alumni

• Experience life as a college student

Marge Magner

Marjorie Magner is a founding member and partner of Brysam Global Partners. She has over 30 years of operating and deal experience in the consumer financial services sector.

Prior to the formation of Brysam, Ms. Magner served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Global Consumer Group at Citigroup. In this position, she was responsible for the company's operations serving consumers through retail banking, credit cards and consumer finance, as well as for finance, credit and other staff functions. She was named to the Fortune magazine list of Most Powerful Women in Business from 2001-2004 (#5), Forbes magazine list of World's Most Powerful Women (#19 in 2004), and U.S. Banker's list of the Most Powerful Women in Banking (#1 in 2004), as well as U.S. Banker's list of the Top 25 Non-Bank Women in Finance (#11 in 2008), among others.In addition to her achievements in business and banking.

Ms. Magner is a passionate advocate on issues affecting consumers, women and youth globally.

Currently, Ms. Magner serves as the Non-Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors for Accenture, as a member of the Brooklyn College Foundation and is on the Dean's Advisory Council for the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University. Ms. Magner holds a B.S. degree in Psychology from Brooklyn College and a Master of Science in Industrial Administration degree and Honorary Doctorate from the Krannert School of Management, Purdue University.
