The Women in Business organization is designed to provide women a strong network from which professional, academic, and career mentoring activities and information can be explored. WIB desires to develop and foster relationships among undergraduate students, graduate students, former students, potential students, faculty, staff and business leaders. Our mission is to guide young women through their academic and professional development in order to equip them to overcome barriers they may encounter in their professional lives.

Monarch Leadership Conference
This year will be the tenth year Women in Business hosts an annual conference that is a one-day event for students, faculty, and alumni. Our recently rebranded conference reaches a broader audience and helps more young professionals achieve their personal career ambitions. The literal definition of monarch is “leader” and we use the butterfly as a symbol to represent individuality. Everyone has their own unique leadership style and our goal for this conference is to have attendees realize what specific skills and attributes they already possess to help them reach their goals. Typically, the conference has two keynote speakers, different breakout sessions where company representatives can sit on panels or host workshops, and a networking breakfast and lunch. Last year, our keynotes were former Miss America, Nina Davaluri, and former NASA CIO and current Founder and CEO of Muse Technologies, Inc., Linda Cureton. Attendees have the opportunity to pursue their interests through engaging breakout sessions, gain insight from professionals, and network with one another. We work hard to ensure that the day will be a source of inspiration, education, and empowerment for faculty, alumni, and students.
