Business Law


Judge Fouts has taught courses in business law and business ethics since 2013.  He earned a B.S. in Finance from Indiana University in 1992 and a J.D., cum laude, from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1995. He is admitted to practice law in both Indiana and Illinois. 
Judge Fouts practiced law in Chicago and in the Lafayette area from 1995 until he was appointed to serve as Judge of the Carroll Superior Court in 2010.  In addition to representing scores of private clients, Judge Fouts also served as the attorney for Carroll County, the City of Delphi, Carroll County Wabash and Erie Canal, Inc., as a Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney,  and as a Deputy Public Defender.  He has previously served on the Board of Directors of CDC Resources, Inc., as President of both the Delphi Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce, and as a member of the Delphi Tri-Township Fire Department.   
In addition to his duties as Judge and as a Lecturer, Judge Fouts presently serves on the Board of Directors of both the Indiana Judicial Center and of the Indiana Judges' Association.  He is the President of the Carroll County Community Corrections Advisory Board and is a member of both the Strategic Planning Committee and Records Management Committee of the Indiana Supreme Court.  He is a 2016 graduate of the Indiana Graduate Program for Judges.
