PURCE Webinar: Dr. Victoria Prowse on Using Goals to Motivate College Students

Thursday, November 19, 2020
11:00 am

For PURCE's November installment of the center's monthly webinar series, Dr. Victoria Prowse, Magner Chair and Associate Professor of Economics, will discuss using goals to motivate college students.

In two field experiments involving almost 4,000 college students, Dr. Prowse finds that task-based goals had robust positive effects on task completion and also increased course performance.

Performance-based goals had positive – but small – effects on course performance.

Dr. Prowse will discuss these findings, which have important implications for educational practice, in a live presentation followed by a Q&A, moderated by Purdue University Research Center in Economics director Dr. Kevin Mumford.

A Zoom link will be provided in your registration confirmation email.
